SCARS

The first thing that happens after your op. is your nurse will lift up the nice clean white pad sticking to your wound. It doesn’t hurt, but they are curious to see if your surgeon has made a good job – or not!

This pad stays there for several days, it is waterproof so you can shower – carefully – or even take a bath, and when it is peeled off it doesn’t take half your skin with it, as used to happen.

Wonderful things, modern dressings.

When the dressing came off, underneath was a clean white scar.  The nurses told me that whilst my scar was ‘crusty’ I should put oil on twice a day – so I used Barefoot Botanical’s Rosa Fina oil, alternating with a rose hip oil from the Organic Pharmacy, and Doctors were very pleased with the way I healed.

Once the scar had healed and was just skin, I started using Tamanu Cream from Phytoscience (01506-847040). This is brilliant -six months after my operation, an eight inch long scar has almost faded away, and now looks like a sexy cleavage between my breasts.

Thanks for sharing the products that you used to minimize your scar. My mother in law has yet to have her operation so I might recommend these to her if she gets worried about what the scar may look like.

There has been a lot of improvement with scare reduction creams over the last few years. Two years ago I had a big car accident and I was in the hospital for a few days with a very large cut on my forehead which required a large number of stitches. I received a special cream which I applied daily for nearly 3 months and the large scar can hardly be seen now.
